Detach your Audis front bumper.
Move the front bumper up and down to detach it from the vehicle. Disconnect the wiring for the horn and headlights with your hands. Detach the turn signal bulbs from the front end of the vehicle.

8. Grasp and remove the fans lock carrier, the wiring and the timing belt cover. Then, disconnect the fan by removing the four bolts on the fan with an Allen wrench.
9. Loosen both bolts from the Audis A/C compressor belt to detach the belt and then wiggle the spring-loaded tensioner with a crescent wrench to release the serpentine belt.
10. Detach the Audis damper pulley and its four bolts with a breaker bar and a metric wrench, turning counterclockwise. Detach the three lower timing belt cover bolts with an Allen wrench. Remove the cover.
11. Wiggle the Audis crank by the damper pulley clockwise to connect the marked sections of the cam sprocket together with the Audis valve cover.
12. Detach the three bolts securing the tensioner as well as the single guide pulley bolt. Pull the tensioner and the guide pulley free and replace the tensioner with a new one.
