The German gave a new car to the leader of the Catholic Church continuing the partnership holding the Vatican for more than 80 years.

The brand new car was delivered to Pope Benedict XVI in Rome and will be used by the high priest in his public appearances both locally and abroad. His debut was on January 8 in the plaza Spain to celebrate the day of the Immaculate Conception.

The new Popemobile has the latest technology found in M Class but adding modifications specially designed for the comfort and safety of Benedict XVI.

  The dome is larger than its previous version in order to provide more living space and more convenient access, also increased the size of the glasses so that the Pope has a better view from the throne located in the center decorated with shield of the Holy Father.

As for his body, which holds a key White Diamond, was also modified by reducing the height to make air travel easier thereof. Despite this, it was possible to increase the height of the carrier.

With this creation, which took more than nine months of work, Mercedes-Benz continues a tradition that began more than 80 years with the delivery of Nurburg 460 Pullman Saloon Pope Pius XI in 1930.
